Shri Venkataramana Temple Mulki is one of the oldest and prominent temples of Dakshina Kannada with a history of over 700 years. Over the past couple of centuries the Temple has been an active participant in the development of the society at large through various activities conducted by the Temple. Prior to independence the Temple used to run its own school. In the 1960s when the Vijaya College was started in Mulki, S.V.Temple was one of the principal donors and even had proposed to give free land required for the purpose.
With the objective of imparting quality education along with all round development of the children in and around Mulki the Temple has sponsored Sri Vyasa Maharishi Vidya Peetha a Trust whose objective is to run Schools and organize other activities which will help in enhancing the overall quality of society at large.
The Sri Vyasa Maharshi Vidya Peetha's operations are anchored around the following Vision Statement:
" To provide affordable quality education to students across the social and religious spectrum so as to enrich their quality of life and mould them into responsible human beings. "We intend to make the Sri Vyasa Maharshi Vidya Peetha, a renowned seat of learning by maintaining highest educational standards in collaboration with all the stakeholders, namely, the management, teachers, students and parents. The Vidya Peetha shall try to achieve this objective through effective teaching methodologies, practical training exercises, creativity and group work sessions, and imbibing leadership qualities.
In this respect Sri Vyasa Maharshi Vidya Peetha took over the management of an existing school in the academic year 2005-2006. This school was on the verge of closing due to inadequate strength. Sri Vyasa Maharishi Vidya Peetha absorbed all the students and staff of that school. When the school was about to shut down the strength of the school was just 120 students.
Sri Vyasa Maharishi Vidya Peetha English Medium School started in 2005-2006 in a small rented facility in Kilpady Village on the outskirts of Mulky. In the year 2006-2007 it shifted to a new school campus in the plantation environment of Vidya Giri (Gouri Betta), Kilpady.
The new campus houses

Free mid day meals are provided to all the students of the school daily at the school campus irrespective of caste and creed. The meals are sponsored by the Temple and are cooked and prepared in the ultra modern kitchen run by the Temple.
Last year we also have built a full fledged Student Activity Centre which houses an auditorium and also contains facilities for indoor games.

The School has made all round progress and the students have been gaining recognition in all fields. The academic performance of the school is reflected in the good performances achieved by the students in the Tenth Standard Public Examinations where not only have the all pass percentages been good but the percentage of students passing with distinction increasing year by year.

The building will house around 12 class rooms and other facilities. We estimate that this will cost around Rs 50 lakhs. We request you to take part in this noble cause and contribute earnestly towards this.
Contributions made towards this cause are eligible for deduction from taxable income under section 80(G) of the Income Tax act. Please feel free to contact us at any time if you need any further details regarding the school or have any queries in this regard. We are positive that you will consider our request at the earliest possible and hope to hear from you with respect to this matter.
